Write with us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about festival customs, foodways, keepsakes and seasonal traditions. A strong proposal gives readers a distinct subject to explore without relying on a fleeting event report.
What we welcome
We are interested in clear, original writing that explains a tradition, compares meaningful variations, follows the history of an object or explores the role of food in a gathering. We value careful descriptions, accessible context and respect for the people whose customs are being discussed.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the proposed focus, the central question and what a reader will understand or notice afterward. Include a short outline and relevant writing experience if you wish, but do not send confidential material or claim access you do not have. Keep the scope focused enough for one article and avoid promotional copy.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Unsolicited drafts are not required for an initial pitch. We cannot promise a response time or publication, and we will discuss scope and terms before any commissioned work.
A festival is made of shared details
The headline event matters, but so do the customs around it: what is served, remembered, made and passed along. We look closely at those details.
